Week 9.

Dear Grape,

the past week has been very exciting.  After announcing your presence to all your grandparents on 4/17, we took the opportunity to announce to the rest of the close family at the various Easter celebrations.

On Wednesday, April 20th, we got together with your cousin, aunts and uncles (who are actually your second cousins, but whatever), Great Aunt Ev and Great Oma and Opa to color eggs.  We had a great time coloring eggs with Tyler, your cousin who recently turned 3!  They are all so excited about you!  Especially Aunt Cassie, who is currently pregnant with a little girl.  We played the video for them too and just before the big announcement Tyler managed to turn it off!  Ha!  They finally got it though.  It took your Great Opa a little bit longer to catch on though...  After we were all toasting and sipping champagne and sparkling juice, he finally asked your Great Oma what was going on.

Then, on Saturday, we saw your Great Aunt Cookie and that side of the family!  Again, we played the video.  She is so excited.  Even your Uncle Vinnie is excited to meet you!  You are going to bring so much joy to them.

Finally, on Sunday, we saw your Great Grandma Eleanor and Great Uncle Bill (isn't it nice that you have so many great people in your life already?!?).  Bill's reaction to the video was priceless "Oh my God!!!" and Grandma is happy too.

Now all the family knows about you.  In a few weeks we will go back to the doctor again and we'll get another picture of you.  Can't wait to peek in on you again.  And to hopefully hear your little heart pumping away.

Keep growing, baby.

Week 8.

Dear Raspberry,

your dad has taken to calling you after whatever food item has been named in our weekly emails to gauge your size... last week it was blueberry and before that lentil!  So much has happened in the last couple weeks.

On April 11th, we had our second doctor's appointment and got to see your heartbeat!  It showed up as a little flicker, measuring 141 beats per minute.  Your dad was there too and got a little teary-eyed seeing that.  :)  I was just so nervous going into it and absolutely relieved when we found you!

We got to take home your first photo too!  You're still too little to identify any features, but we still enjoyed staring at you.  The doctor told us that while we were figuring you were close to 8 weeks at that time, you were really closer to 7.  I'd be lying if I told you that I didn't freak out about that a little.  I did.  But I had to remember that no part of this process is exact.  And we had seen your heartbeat, which was a *very* good sign.  The Doctor told us that we're more likely to meet you on November 27th than the 22nd like we originally thought.  I can wait 5 days.  :)

Then, on April 17th, we had all of your grandparents over for dinner and told them about you.  They are so, so excited to meet you!  You are going to be one spoiled kiddo!!!!  We made a video of your dog, Lita, to show them... at the end we came on the screen holding signs that said "Surprise! We're pregnant!"  My mom was screaming and crying.  Pretty soon all the women were crying, including me.
This coming week, the rest of our close family (including aunts, uncles, cousins and great-grandparents!), will find out about you as well.  And in 3 weeks, we'll go to the doctor again.  No ultrasound this time, but we should get to hear your heartbeat this time.

Keep growing, baby!
